Announce a referral bonus with the steps to claim it
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're posting the updated employee referral program on the intranet. Write one opening sentence with the current bonus amount and the roles it covers, then exactly 3 numbered steps to refer someone, then one line on who isn't eligible, plain text, under 80 words. Use the updated amount and leave out the program's history.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for 'a referral post'. The AI writes a hype-filled post with headings and every detail. Try: Be exact: "One opening sentence, exactly 3 numbered steps, one eligibility line. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line instead: "each line under 16 words."
- Using the old amount. $1,000 appears first, with the update below it. Try: Add: "Use the Mar 1 amounts: $1,500 warehouse, $2,500 maintenance technicians."
- Steps out of order. The AI mixes eligibility and payout into the steps. Try: Add: "Steps in order: submit, they list your name, paid after 90 days."
- Adding history or tax talk. The AI explains how the program grew, or guesses about taxes. Try: Add: "End with who isn't eligible. No history, no tax details."
