Get feedback on your graduation speech, not a new one
- For High school students
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You were picked to give a 2-minute speech at graduation, and the words have to be yours. Get exactly 3 numbered fixes, biggest first, each under 30 words, under 140 words in total, plain text, with no rewritten lines. Your principal's limit is 2 minutes, about 260 words spoken, and your draft is much longer, so length should come first.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Getting a new speech. Ask what the AI thinks and it often rewrites the whole speech, which wouldn't be yours on stage. Try: Add: "Don't rewrite anything or give me new lines."
- Not giving the time limit. The AI doesn't know the 2-minute rule, so it may even suggest adding stories. Try: Add: "It must fit 2 minutes, about 260 words. Length first."
- Only getting praise. AI feedback on speeches leans warm and may not name the clichés. Try: Add: "Point out any clichés."
- Getting a long review. AI feedback comes as sections with headings and many tips. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered fixes, each under 25 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your speech notes. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
