Get feedback on your song lyrics that names the line
- For High school students
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You wrote lyrics for a song you'll play at the school talent show, and you want feedback, not new lyrics. Get exactly 3 numbered notes, each starting with the one line it's about, like "Line 6:", each under 30 words, under 130 words in total, plain text. Suggest no replacement lyrics. Your bandmate thinks the chorus breaks its own rhyme in one spot, so check that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Getting rewritten lyrics. The AI 'helps' by writing new lines, and then the song isn't yours on stage. Try: Add: "Don't suggest replacement lyrics or rhyme words."
- Vague notes. The AI says 'the chorus could be stronger' without pointing to a line. Try: Add: "Start each note with the line number, like Line 6:."
- Not asking about the rhyme. The AI comments on mood and imagery and may miss the broken rhyme. Try: Add: "Check whether the chorus keeps its rhyme."
- Getting a long review. AI feedback comes as headed sections with praise for every verse. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered notes, each under 25 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your lyric notebook. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
