Get feedback on your story opening without a rewrite

About this exercise

You wrote the opening of a short story for English class. It's graded, so you want feedback, not new sentences. Get exactly 3 numbered fixes, biggest first by your teacher's rubric, each under 30 words, under 130 words in total, plain text, with no rewritten sentences or new lines for you to copy. One of your paragraphs slips out of past tense.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Getting a rewrite. AI loves to 'show' you a better version, and copying it breaks your teacher's rule. Try: Add: "Don't rewrite anything or give example sentences. Tell me what to fix."
  • Not ranking by the rubric. The AI ranks by its own taste, often the hook or word choice, not by points. Try: Add: "Rank fixes by my teacher's rubric, biggest point value first."
  • Missing the tense slip. The AI may comment on style and never mention the tense change. Try: Add: "Check that I stay in past tense."
  • Getting a long review. AI feedback comes as headed sections with praise and many tips. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered fixes, each under 25 words."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your draft document. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
