Script the first 60 seconds of a call with a new sponsor
- For Executives
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Greg just replaced Anna as the executive sponsor at Marlin Freight. Write your opening for the call as exactly three lines starting "Open:", "Context:" and "Ask:". It is spoken, so use short sentences. Do not pitch anything new. Under 85 words, plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pitching the add-on. The CRM idea sits in the notes and the AI works it into the opening. Try: Add: "Do not pitch anything new."
- Writing an email, not a script. The AI writes a formal paragraph, not spoken lines. Try: Say: "Spoken, short sentences, three labeled lines."
- Vague ask. The AI asks for 'a time to connect'. Try: Say: "Ask for a 30-minute review on Nov 12 or 13."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
- Names the three labels
- Bans a pitch
