Explain a red account to the VP in three number-backed bullets
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write an update for the VP of Customer Success, Lara, on why Orchard Health is red. Exactly three bullets starting with "-" and each containing a number from the notes, then one last line starting "Action:". Do not use the stale NPS from last year. Plain text, under 80 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the stale NPS. The teammate's draft and the notes include +45. Try: Say: "Don't use last year's NPS."
- Bullets without numbers. The AI writes vague bullets like 'usage is declining'. Try: Say: "Each bullet contains a number from the notes."
- Missing the action. The AI ends on the risks. Try: Add: "Last line: Action: owner, what, date."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Leaving the bullet count open. The AI keeps adding bullets until every detail is covered. Try: Name the cap: "at most N bullets, nothing else".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Caps the bullets
- Asks for numbers
- Sets the Action line
