Explain a price and volume sensitivity table to the VP of Operations
- For FP&A and financial analysts
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Marco, VP of Operations, asked: "What matters more for next year, price or volume?" Answer him in at most 4 sentences of plain text, with no bullets. Your first sentence answers his question with numbers from the current table. His team says "operating profit", so use that term and never write "EBITDA", "sensitivity" or "matrix".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Walking through the table. The AI describes the grid row by row instead of answering Marco's question. Try: Say: "First sentence answers: what matters more, price or volume, with numbers."
- Mixing in old numbers. The AI pulls the superseded v1 figures because they appear in the notes. Try: Add: "Use only v2. Ignore v1."
- Using finance terms. The AI says EBITDA and sensitivity, which Marco's team doesn't use. Try: Say: "Call it operating profit. Don't write EBITDA, sensitivity or matrix."
- Writing a report. The AI writes paragraphs and bullet lists for a one-line question. Try: Say: "At most 4 sentences, plain text, no bullets."
