Post the weekly support numbers with the miss first
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You post the support team's weekly numbers in Slack. Lead with the one metric that missed its target, then at most 3 bullets for the others, each showing this week's number against target, under 60 words, plain text. Use only this week's column and don't explain causes the data doesn't show. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing a full report. The AI adds a header, a table and a bullet per metric plus commentary. Try: Be exact: "First line the miss, then at most 3 bullets."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each bullet under 10 words, first line under 15 words."
- Burying the miss. The AI lists metrics in table order, so the one problem sits first only by luck. Try: Add: "Lead with the only metric that missed target."
- Mixing up the columns. With two weeks side by side, the AI quotes last week's CSAT miss. Try: Add: "Use only the Nov 3-9 column."
- Guessing at causes. The AI repeats the macro-tool rumor as if it were the reason. Try: Add: "Don't explain causes; the data doesn't show them."
What a strong prompt includes
