Plan how much to save each week for prom
- For High school students
- You practice Showing an example of what you want
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Prom is coming and you want a weekly savings goal. Get exactly 3 numbered lines in plain text, under 60 words: 1. your share of prom costs, with the addition shown; 2. what's left to save after the money you already have, with the subtraction; 3. how much to save per week until the deadline, with the division. Use the updated ticket price. No tips. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old ticket price. The AI uses $60 from your list and misses the student council update. Try: Add: "The ticket is now $70."
- No math shown. The AI gives totals with no working, so you can't check them. Try: Show it: "3. Per week: $200 / 20 weeks = $10".
- Getting tips. The AI suggests skipping the limo or counting Mom's help. Try: Add: "No tips. Don't count Mom's help."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 16 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the new price
- Subtracts what you have
- Asks for a weekly amount
- Sets the number of lines
- Sets a word limit
