About this exercise
You're picking a dental plan for next year and already know what work you'll need. Get exactly 3 numbered lines in plain text, under 90 words: 1. Plan A's yearly cost (premiums plus your share of the expected work) with the math; 2. Plan B's, same shape, using the corrected premium; 3. which costs less and by how much. No advice. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old premium. The AI uses $25 from the sheet and misses HR's note. Try: Add: "Use HR's corrected Dental Plus premium, $30 a month."
- Comparing only premiums. The AI says Basic is cheaper because the premium is lower, ignoring your planned crown. Try: Say: "Add 12 months of premiums plus my share of the filling and crown."
- No math shown. The AI gives totals without the working. Try: Show it: "1. Basic: $10 x 12 = $120 + filling $100 + crown $800 = $1,020".
- Getting general advice. The AI echoes your coworker about healthy teeth. Try: Add: "Line 3 only says which costs less and by how much."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 90 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 22 words."
