Total what you'd save by canceling subscriptions
- For Office and admin
- You practice Showing an example of what you want
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You marked which subscriptions to cancel on your bank statement. Get one numbered line per subscription you marked, each showing the yearly cost like "1. StreamPlus: $12 x 12 = $144", then a Total line adding the yearly savings. Use the current price where your notes say it changed. Under 70 words, plain text. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Listing every subscription. The AI includes the keepers or follows your sister about TuneWave. Try: Add: "Only the ones I marked CANCEL."
- Using the old price. The AI uses PhotoPro's $15 from the statement. Try: Add: "Use PhotoPro's new $18 price."
- No yearly math. The AI lists monthly amounts and never shows the year. Try: Show it: "Format each like: 1. StreamPlus: $12 x 12 = $144".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 8 words."
- Leaving the format to the AI. The AI adds a title, bold labels and sub-bullets, which turns a quick note into a page. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings, no intro."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses only the marked ones
- Uses the new price
- Shows yearly math
- Asks for a total
- Sets a word limit
