Write gala invite details in the template's five lines
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're filling in the digital invite template for Harbor Lights Literacy's spring gala. Write exactly 5 lines labeled What:, When:, Where:, Tickets: and Dress:, each under 12 words, using the updated ticket price and dress code. Don't mention the auction items (not final), and use plain text with nothing else.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing a full invitation. The AI writes a warm paragraph invitation with a heading. Try: Match the template: "Exactly 5 labeled lines: What, When, Where, Tickets, Dress."
- Using the first drafts. $150 and black tie come first in the notes. Try: Add: "Use the Feb 12 updates: $125, cocktail attire."
- Advertising unconfirmed items. Auction items make the event sound exciting, so the AI lists them. Try: Add: "Don't mention auction items."
- Trusting the AI to count words. Each line grows into a sentence. Try: Cap it: "Each line under 9 words."
- Getting formatting. Labels come back bold. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the 5 lines
- Uses the updates
- Leaves out the auction
- Limits each line
- Asks for plain text
