Write one launch post per platform with each platform's limits

Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You're announcing the launch of Glimmer, a refillable cleaning spray, on three platforms. Write exactly 3 lines labeled X:, LinkedIn: and Instagram:, with the X post under 35 words, the LinkedIn post under 60 words and no hashtags, and the Instagram caption under 50 words ending with exactly 2 hashtags. Keep it under 130 words in all, use only the verified claims, and plain text with nothing else.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for "a launch post". The AI writes one post, or one per platform with headings and design notes. Try: Set the shape: "3 lines labeled X:, LinkedIn:, Instagram:."
  • Same length everywhere. The AI writes three similar posts and ignores each platform's norms. Try: Give per-platform limits: "X under 25 words, LinkedIn under 45, Instagram under 35."
  • Using unapproved claims. "Kills 99.9% of germs" is the default cleaning claim, and the AI repeats the founder's estimate. Try: Add: "Use only the verified claims. No germs, non-toxic or 1,000 bottles."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. Three posts add up fast, and AI miscounts its own words. Try: Cap each post well under its limit, and the total stays under too.
  • Hashtags everywhere. The AI adds hashtags to every platform, including LinkedIn. Try: Add: "No hashtags on LinkedIn. Instagram ends with exactly #Glimmer #RefillNotLandfill."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the 3 platforms
  • Sets per-platform limits
  • Uses only verified claims
  • Sets hashtag rules
  • Asks for plain text
