Write a three-post launch thread for X
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're launching Tidepool, a shared grocery list app, on X. Write a thread of exactly 3 numbered posts, each under 40 words so it fits X's limit, with the first post naming Tidepool and the launch date. Use only the launch features (not the ones still in beta), no more than one hashtag in the whole thread, and no emojis. Plain text, only the posts.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for "a launch post". The AI writes one long post or 5 options, not a thread. Try: Set the shape: "A thread of exactly 3 numbered posts."
- Missing the date change. The notes mention Jan 13 first, and the AI sometimes uses it. Try: Add: "Launch date is January 20."
- Announcing beta features. Recipe import and price tracking sound exciting, so the AI includes them. Try: Add: "Only launch features. Skip recipe import and price tracking."
- Letting it decorate. Launch posts pull the AI toward rockets, sparkles and a pile of hashtags. Try: Add: "No emojis. One hashtag at most in the thread."
- Getting labels and bold. The AI labels posts with bold "Tweet 1/3" headers. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for a thread of 3
- Sets a length per post
- Uses the right date
- Skips beta features
- Limits hashtags and emojis
