Fit a grading pile into a week of duties
- For Teachers
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You have four stacks to grade and a busy week. Write exactly 5 numbered lines, Monday to Friday, each like '1. Mon (40 min): stack', using only the grading minutes you have each day. Each line ends with minutes used out of minutes free, like (40/40), and reading logs go last since they have no deadline. Report-card comments are due earlier than first announced, so plan for the new date. Plain text, under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old deadline. The grading list says Friday, and the AI plans report cards for Friday. Try: Add: "Report-card comments are due Thursday 4pm now."
- Ignoring your real minutes. The AI gives Tuesday some grading or overfills Thursday. Try: Add: "Minutes: Mon 40, Tue 0, Wed 60, Thu 30, Fri 50. Don't go over."
- Tips instead of a plan. The AI adds grading hacks and bulletin board ideas. Try: Add: "Only the grading stacks. No tips."
- Letting the AI pick the layout. The AI writes a table with bold days. Try: Show it: "1. Mon (40 min): report-card comments". Plain text.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 12 words."
