Sort AP World notes into changes and continuities

Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

AP World asks for continuity and change over time, and your notes mix them together. Get exactly 4 lines: 2 starting 'Change:' and then 2 starting 'Continuity:', each under 20 words, plain text, with no intro or conclusion. Use only your notes on Indian Ocean trade, including your teacher's fix about the compass.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for a summary. The AI writes paragraphs that blend changes and continuities, which is exactly what CCOT questions punish. Try: Give labels: "2 lines starting Change:, 2 starting Continuity:."
  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 18 words."
  • Missing the correction. Your wrong note about the compass is still in the material. Try: Add: "Use Mr. Banerjee's correction about the compass."
  • Mixing up the two lists. Without your notes' cues, the AI may call a continuity a change. Try: Add: "Use only what my notes say changed or stayed the same."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Gives the two labels
  • Says how many lines
  • Uses the correction
  • Sets a length limit
  • Says to use only the material
