Compare competitive and noncompetitive inhibition
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your Biochemistry exam asks you to contrast types of enzyme inhibition. Get exactly 3 numbered lines covering where the inhibitor binds, whether more substrate helps, and the effect on Vmax, each in the form 'Feature: Competitive | Noncompetitive', each under 22 words, plain text. Use only your lecture notes, including the professor's correction about Vmax.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for an explanation. The AI writes a long explanation with graphs, which is slow to review. Try: Show the shape: "Feature: Competitive | Noncompetitive".
- Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered lines."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each side: "each side under 9 words."
- Missing the correction. Your wrong note about Vmax is still in the material. Try: Add: "Noncompetitive lowers Vmax, per Dr. Achterberg."
- Adding other types. The AI may add uncompetitive and mixed inhibition. Try: Add: "Only these two types."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Shows the line shape
- Uses the correction
- Sets a length limit
- Says to use only the material
