Compare two map projections line by line
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your AP Human Geography quiz asks about map projections. Get exactly 3 numbered lines covering what it keeps accurate, what it distorts and a good use, each in the form 'Feature: Mercator | Gall-Peters', each under 25 words, plain text. Use only your notes, including Ms. Lindgren's correction about Greenland.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking to compare. The AI writes paragraphs and adds other projections. Try: Show the shape: "Feature: Mercator | Gall-Peters".
- Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered lines."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each side: "each side under 10 words."
- Missing the correction. Your backwards note about Greenland is still in the material. Try: Add: "On Mercator, Greenland looks too big, per Ms. Lindgren."
- Letting in other projections. The AI may add Robinson for context. Try: Add: "Only these two, only from my notes."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many lines
- Shows the line shape
- Uses the correction
- Sets a length limit
- Says to use only the material
