Compare perfect competition and monopoly side by side
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your Microeconomics exam asks you to contrast market structures. Get exactly 4 numbered lines covering number of sellers, price control, barriers to entry and long-run profit, each in the form 'Feature: Perfect competition | Monopoly', each under 22 words, plain text. Use only your lecture notes, including the professor's correction about long-run profit.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking to compare. The AI writes an essay or a table with extra rows. Try: Show the shape: "Feature: Perfect competition | Monopoly".
- Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each side: "each side under 9 words."
- Missing the correction. Your wrong note about long-run profit is still in the material. Try: Add: "Perfect competition has zero long-run profit, per Prof. Brandt."
- Adding other structures. The AI may add oligopoly for context. Try: Add: "Only these two."
What a strong prompt includes

- Shows the line shape
- Uses the correction
- Sets a length limit
- Says to use only the material
