Get keep-and-fix feedback on a speech outline
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your Public Speaking instructor grades informative speech outlines against a checklist. Get exactly 4 numbered lines: 2 starting 'Keep:' and then 2 starting 'Fix:', each under 18 words and tied to an item on the instructor's checklist, plain text. Don't rewrite any part of the outline.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for feedback. The AI writes a long review with a rewritten outline attached. Try: Give the shape: "2 lines starting Keep:, then 2 starting Fix:."
- Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
- Not using the checklist. The AI judges by its own taste and may even praise the call to action. Try: Add: "Tie every line to Prof. Aldana's checklist."
- Getting a rewrite. The AI hands you a new preview and conclusion to paste in. Try: Add: "Don't rewrite any part of the outline."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 15 words."
- Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your notes. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
