About this exercise
You're reviewing four months of bank fees for the owner. Write a prompt for plain text with lines starting "Recurring monthly fee:", "One-time fees:", "Total Jul-Oct:" and "Check:", each with the math. The recurring fee is the amount charged in every month. Don't mention rumors about a fee increase. Under 60 words. No bullets or numbering.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Mentioning the rumor. The AI adds a caution about January fee increases. Try: Add: "Do not mention any possible fee increase."
- Treating September's $70 as recurring. The AI reports the recurring fee as $51.25. Try: Say: "Recurring fee is the amount charged in every month: $45."
- No check. The AI skips the proof. Try: Add: "Check: 4 x recurring fee + one-time fees = total."
- Markdown extras. The AI adds bold labels, headings and a closing note. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold. Output only the lines asked for."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each line short.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the four lines
- Shows the sum
- Gives the check formula
- Bans the rumor
- Caps length
