About this exercise
You're setting up recurring invoices for a tenant. Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Month | Amount, rows Dec 2026, Jan 2027 and Feb 2027, then a line starting "Total:" with the addition. Apply the annual increase only from the month the contract says. Show amounts with two decimals. No commentary. Under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Applying the increase in December. The AI uses $1,030 for all three months. Try: Say: "The increase starts January 1; December is the current rent."
- Including parking. The AI adds $25.00 to each month. Try: Add: "Leave out the parking fee."
- No total line. The AI ends without the addition. Try: Add: 'One line "Total:" with the amounts added.'
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each line short.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the columns
- States when the increase applies
- Leaves out parking
- Asks for the total line
- Limits output
