Brief an assistant to pick creators within budget and draft outreach

About this exercise

You want an AI assistant to line up creators for a product launch. Write its brief: only creators with 3% or higher engagement, skip anyone who promoted a competitor in the last 90 days (ask you about them instead), add the cheapest eligible creators first until the next one would push the total over $2,000, and draft outreach but never send it or sign anything. Output exactly 4 numbered plain-text lines: drafts in table order, ASK_HUMAN, then DONE with the total as math.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not showing the log format. Left alone, the AI writes a friendly report with headings instead of a checkable action log. Try: Show it literally: "Format every line like 1. ACTION: tool(args), then ASK_HUMAN: and DONE: lines. Plain text."
  • Chasing reach. The AI follows the team note and picks the biggest audience, even with weak engagement. Try: Add: "Only creators with 3%+ engagement, cheapest first, up to $2,000."
  • No rule for conflicts or the cap. The AI adds the best performer even if it breaks the budget, and misses the competitor ad. Try: Add: "Stop before the total passes $2,000. Competitor posts in 90 days go to ASK_HUMAN."
  • Letting it commit. Given send and sign actions, the AI books creators on its own. Try: Add: "Draft only. Never send or sign. Show the total as math."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Sets the engagement bar
  • Sets the budget
  • Checks for competitors
  • Forbids sending or signing
  • Shows the action-log format
