Brief an assistant to segment webinar sign-ups for follow-up
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You want an AI assistant to sort last week's webinar registrants for follow-up emails. Write its brief: Attended means watched 10 minutes or more, everyone else who registered is No-show, anyone who has unsubscribed goes to Suppress no matter what, and it never sends or drafts any email (you'll do that). Output exactly 7 numbered plain-text lines: one assign_segment per registrant in order, then DONE with the count in each segment.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not showing the log format. Left alone, the AI writes a friendly report with headings instead of a checkable action log. Try: Show it literally: "Format every line like 1. ACTION: tool(args), then ASK_HUMAN: and DONE: lines. Plain text."
- Not defining attended. The AI counts anyone who joined, even for 5 minutes. Try: Say: "Attended = watched 10 minutes or more."
- Missing the unsubscribe. The AI sorts by viewing time and emails someone who opted out. Try: Add: "Unsubscribed people go to Suppress no matter what."
- Letting it email. The AI moves on to drafting and sending follow-ups. Try: Add: "Never draft or send email. End with DONE and segment counts."
What a strong prompt includes
- Defines attended
- Handles unsubscribes
- Forbids emailing
- Asks for counts
- Shows the action-log format
