Brief an assistant to compare day camps that fit your workday
- For Parents and households
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You need a summer day camp for two kids and want an AI assistant to compare options. Write its brief: drop-off and pickup must cover 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (including any extended care fee), the total for both kids for one week must be under $900 after any sibling discount, show each camp's total as math, name the one that fits, and never register or pay. Output exactly 5 numbered plain-text lines: one note per camp in order, an ASK_HUMAN line, then DONE.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not showing the log format. Left alone, the AI writes a friendly report with headings instead of a checkable action log. Try: Show it literally: "Format every line like 1. ACTION: tool(args), then ASK_HUMAN: and DONE: lines. Plain text."
- Hiding the math. The AI compares sticker prices and skips extended care and the discount. Try: Say: "Show each total for both kids, with extended care and any discount."
- Leaving out your hours. The AI picks the cheapest camp, which ends at 3 p.m. Try: Add: "Must cover 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Total under $900."
- Letting it sign up. Given register and pay, the AI books a spot before you decide. Try: Add: "Never register or pay. Ask me to approve."
