Brief an agent to triage bugs with your priority rules
- For Product managers
- You practice Showing an example of what you want
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You want an AI agent to triage new bug reports. Write its brief using your rules: P1 means data loss or payments broken, P2 means a feature broken with no workaround, P3 is everything else; link duplicates to the original and never close anything; assign only P1 bugs, to Mei (on call). Output a plain-text numbered action log of at most 10 lines, ending with DONE.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not showing the log format. Left alone, the AI writes a friendly report with headings instead of a checkable action log. Try: Show it literally: "Format every line like 1. ACTION: tool(args), then ASK_HUMAN: and DONE: lines. Plain text."
- Not giving your definitions. The AI uses its own sense of severity and calls the annoying tooltip a P2. Try: Add: "P1 = data loss or payments broken, P2 = broken with no workaround, P3 = the rest."
- Letting it close duplicates. The AI tidies up by closing duplicates, losing the second customer's report. Try: Add: "Link duplicates to the original. Never close."
- No assignment rule. The AI assigns every bug to whoever seems related. Try: Add: "Assign only P1 bugs, to Mei."
