Prepare informational interview questions she hasn't answered yet

About this exercise

Your aunt set up a 20-minute call with her friend, an architect, so you can learn about the career. Get exactly 6 numbered questions, each under 15 words, plain text. Skip anything her bio already answers, put "what would you do differently in high school" first, and don't ask about salary: your counselor said to save that for later.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Getting a long generic list. The AI returns 15 to 20 questions under headings, far more than fit in 20 minutes. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 6 numbered questions, each under 15 words."
  • Asking what the bio says. The AI writes the usual 'Where did you study?' even though her bio already tells you. Try: Add: "Skip anything her bio already answers."
  • Not setting the order. The AI starts with 'What does a typical day look like?', so your most useful question may not fit in time. Try: Add: "Question 1: what she'd do differently in high school."
  • Not ruling out salary. Most AI lists include a pay question, which can feel awkward in a first call. Try: Add: "No questions about salary or pay."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your notes app. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Says how many questions
  • Skips what the bio answers
  • Sets the first question
  • Rules out salary
