Write honest portfolio blurbs for three class projects

  • For College students
  • You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

You're adding 3 projects to your portfolio site. Get exactly 3 numbered entries, one per project, each formatted "1. Project name: what it is. My part: what you did.", under 120 words in total, plain text. Your part must be only what you did, not the team's work, and don't say a project launched or is live unless it did.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Taking credit for the team. The AI writes 'built a full-stack app' because it can't tell your part from your teammates'. Try: Add: "Say only what I did. Jia did the StudySpot front end and Marco the database."
  • Calling everything launched. Portfolio copy from AI makes every project sound live and popular. Try: Add: "Only Grocery Split is live. StudySpot never launched; the bot stopped working."
  • Not showing the entry shape. The AI writes a paragraph per project with headings, so the entries don't match your site. Try: Show it: "1. StudySpot: what it is. My part: what I did."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each entry 2 sentences, each under 16 words."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your website builder. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes
