About this exercise

Your final interview ends with "Do you have any questions for us?" Get exactly 4 numbered questions, each under 18 words, plain text. Skip anything the posting or the recruiter already told you, put the question about the first 90 days first, and don't ask about salary, vacation or remote days in this round: the recruiter said that comes with the offer.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Getting a generic list. The AI gives 10 or more standard questions, some already answered in the posting. Try: Add: "Skip anything the posting or recruiter already told me."
  • Not setting the order. Interviews often run out of time, and the AI won't know which question matters most to you. Try: Add: "Question 1: what success looks like in the first 90 days."
  • Asking about pay too early. AI lists usually include benefits or remote work questions. Try: Add: "No questions on salary, vacation or remote days."
  • No count or length. The AI's questions come in groups under headings with long explanations. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered questions, each under 18 words."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your interview notes. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Says how many questions
  • Skips what you know
  • Sets the first question
  • Rules out pay questions
  • Sets a length limit
