Turn your campus job notes into resume bullets

Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

You're applying for a summer internship and want resume bullets for your old campus library job. You want exactly 3 bullets, under 50 words in total, each starting with a past-tense action verb and including a number from your notes, in the same style as the example bullet you saved. Use only facts and numbers your notes confirm, and don't take credit for team totals. Output just the bullets.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for "resume bullets". The AI writes 5 to 8 bullets, often with a summary line and tips on top. Try: Be exact: "exactly 3 bullets."
  • Not showing an example. Without a model, the AI writes long, buzzword-heavy bullets that sound like everyone else's. Try: Paste one you like: "Match this style: 'Organized 12 campus tours for 300+ students.'"
  • Letting it use shaky numbers. The AI loves a big percentage and will grab one even when your notes say it's a guess. Try: Add: "Use only numbers my notes confirm. Credit team totals to the team."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands 10-20% over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 15 words."
  • Getting extras you didn't ask for. The AI adds alternate versions and advice, so you have to dig out the bullets. Try: Say: "Output only the 3 bullets."

What a strong prompt includes
