About this exercise

Write an email to Wes Arnaud, ops lead at Marlow Bikes, asking him to do a case study. Start with "Subject:", stay under 100 words, use the audited result, ask for a 30-minute interview, and say Marlow approves the draft before anything is published. Name Kira from marketing as the interviewer, and end with the exact line "Dana, Customer Success". Plain text. Company policy: no gifts, credits or discounts for taking part.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using the old figure. The AI picks 70% from the marketing draft. Try: Say: "Use the audited 62%, not the old 70%."
  • Offering an incentive. The AI follows marketing's credit idea. Try: State the policy: "No gifts, credits or discounts for taking part."
  • Forgetting approval. The AI skips that the customer approves the draft, so it sounds risky. Try: Ask: "Say they approve the draft before anything is published."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. Request emails get long and gushy. Try: Ask for "under 90 words."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Uses the audited number
  • Bans incentives
  • Mentions approval
