Brief your AE on an expansion with the seat math shown
- For Customer success managers
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Your AE, Sam, asked if Ridgeway Analytics is ready to expand. Write him exactly 3 plain-text lines starting "Opportunity:", "Evidence:" and "Recommendation:". The Opportunity line shows the yearly math for only the teams ready to buy now, Evidence uses the latest word on budget, and the Recommendation is one action. Under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Counting every interested team. The AI adds all 50 users, including the team that said not now. Try: Say: "Count only teams ready to buy now, Finance and Legal."
- Hiding the math. The AI gives a dollar figure with no working. Try: Ask: "Show the math in the line: seats x $25 x 12 = total."
- Using the old rumor. The AI mentions a budget freeze as a risk. Try: Add: "Use the latest budget info, Hana's Oct 28 email."
- No fixed shape. The AI writes a full brief with headings. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 lines starting Opportunity:, Evidence:, Recommendation:."
- Trusting the AI to count words. Briefs run long. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 25 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the three lines
- Limits to ready teams
- Asks for the math
- Uses the latest budget news
- Sets a word limit
