Fill a one-goal success plan card from messy notes

  • For Customer success managers
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Beginner

About this exercise

Fill one success plan card for the goal below. Output exactly five labeled lines: Goal:, Metric:, Owner:, Check-in:, Risk:. Use only facts from the notes. Plain text, under 80 words. The Check-in line gives a date and cadence.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Adding parked ideas. The AI folds the loyalty app into the plan. Try: Say: "One goal only. Leave out parked ideas."
  • Missing numbers. The AI writes 'reduce calls' with no baseline or target. Try: Say: "Metric: baseline, target and date."
  • Wrong layout. The AI writes a narrative plan. Try: Name the five labels.
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Asks for plain text
  • Sets a length limit
  • Names the five labels
  • Uses only notes
