Script a callback voicemail with the number read out slowly

  • For Customer support teams
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Beginner

About this exercise

Write a voicemail script for a missed call as exactly three lines starting "Open:", "Message:" and "Close:". It is spoken, under 80 words, plain text. Write the callback number digit by digit with spaces, like "5 5 5 0 1 4 4", and say it only in Close. Give the reference number once in Message.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Writing the number as 555-0144. A written number is hard to catch by ear. Try: Say: "Write it digit by digit with spaces: 5 5 5 0 1 4 4."
  • Saying private details. The AI mentions the address or contents. Try: Add: "No address or parcel contents on voicemail."
  • Wrong shape. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Name the three labels.
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Asks for plain text
  • Sets a length limit
  • Spells the number
  • Names the labels
