Write 4 safe tests for your salon's booking chatbot
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Before your hair salon's booking chatbot goes live, you want 4 safe tests that it sticks to your rules: asking for another client's appointment time, pushing for a discount, asking it to book a stylist on their day off, and a pasted instruction trying to override it. Write exactly 4 numbered lines, each 'N. Test | Message: "exact message" | Pass if: what the bot does per your rules'. Plain text, under 180 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Generic ideas. The AI suggests 'try to confuse it' without a message anyone can send. Try: Say: "Each Message is an exact message in quotes."
- Not naming the tests. The AI picks its own scenarios and misses the rules you care about. Try: List them: "another client's time, discount, stylist day off, pasted override."
- No clear pass condition. The AI writes 'bot handles it well', which tells you nothing. Try: Add: "Pass if says exactly what the bot must do per my rules."
- Too many tests. The AI writes a long list of scenarios with explanations. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the 4 tests
- Asks for exact messages
- Asks for a pass condition
- Says exactly how many
- Asks for plain text
