Split board agenda items into consent and discussion lists
- For Executive assistants
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Split the board items into two plain-text lists. Line 1 exactly: Consent agenda. Then the items for consent, one per line starting with a dash. Then a line exactly: Discussion agenda. Then the discussion items, one per line starting with a dash with the minutes in parentheses. Use this rule: consent = routine, no objections raised, no vote needed beyond approval; everything else is discussion. Use the latest notes. Total discussion time must be 60 minutes.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Treating the auditor as discussion. The AI keeps Hall's old objection. Try: Say: "Hall withdrew the objection on Nov 5."
- Time that does not add up. The AI gives 70 minutes. Try: Say: "Discussion total must be 60 minutes."
- Including a non-item. The AI lists the room booking. Try: Say: "Skip items that are not board business."
- Markdown. The AI bolds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 10 words."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
