- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write the customer email in plain text, under 130 words. First line exactly: Subject: Atlas Reports is being retired. Then one sentence on what is happening, exactly 3 dash bullets for the three dates (labeled End of sale, Migration tool, End of support), one sentence saying annual-contract customers are served until their contract ends, and the contact. Use the latest dates only. Do not use the word "sunset". Last line exactly: Legal reviews before sending.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using old dates. The AI uses Feb 24 or June 15. Try: Say: "Use the latest dates only."
- Sharing internal figures. The AI mentions 140 customers. Try: Say: "Leave out internal numbers."
- Using a banned word. The AI says sunset. Try: Say: "Do not use the word sunset."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes paragraphs for dates. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 dash bullets labeled End of sale, Migration tool, End of support."
- Missing exact lines. The AI writes its own subject and sign-off. Try: Say: "First and last lines exactly as given."
- Markdown. The AI bolds dates. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
