- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a reply to the director, Ms. Okafor, in plain text, under 90 words. First line exactly: Subject: Re: Your feedback on the Q3 pack. Thank her, restate her main point in one sentence in your own words, make two commitments with dates, and do not defend or explain the original choice. End with the line: Best, Priya Raman.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Explaining why. The AI explains the appendices. Try: Say: "Do not defend or explain the original choice."
- Vague commitments. The AI promises to improve. Try: Say: "Two commitments with dates."
- No restatement. The AI skips her point. Try: Say: "Restate her main point in one sentence in your own words."
- Missing exact lines. The AI writes its own subject and sign-off. Try: Say: "First and last lines exactly as given."
- Markdown. The AI bolds dates. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
