About this exercise

Your executive's flight was cancelled. Draft a message to her with two rebooking options and a recommendation, flagged for her approval. Plain text, under 120 words. Line 1: Needs your approval before I rebook. Then Option 1 and Option 2 on their own lines with departure, arrival and whether she makes the 9:00 am meeting. Then Recommend: and one option. Use only the notes and fares as quoted today.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Listing the sold-out flight. The AI offers option 1. Try: Say: "Option 1 sold out at 4:05 pm; leave it out."
  • Not checking the meeting. The AI doesn't say who makes the meeting. Try: Say: "State whether each option makes the 9:00 am meeting."
  • No recommendation. The AI lists options only. Try: Say: "End with Recommend: and one option."
  • Booking without approval. The AI says it rebooked. Try: Say: "Start: Needs your approval before I rebook."
  • Markdown. The AI uses a table. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each option: "each option under 25 words."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
