List the top risks with dollar exposure and leave out rumors

  • For FP&A and financial analysts
  • You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Beginner

About this exercise

You're preparing the risks slide for the board. Write a prompt for exactly 3 numbered lines formatted "1. Risk - exposure - source", ordered by dollar exposure from highest to lowest. Use "not quantified" for exposure when no dollar figure is given, and put that risk last. Include only risks with a named source in the notes; leave out rumors. Plain text, under 80 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Including the rumor. The AI adds a fourth risk about competitors. Try: Add: "Leave out the hallway rumor."
  • Inventing a dispute figure. The AI estimates the legal exposure. Try: Add: 'Write "not quantified" when no figure is given.'
  • Wrong order or missing sources. The AI orders by owner and drops the source. Try: Say: "Highest exposure first; end each line with the source."
  • Wrong format. The AI writes bullets with bold names. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 numbered lines starting with 1."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each line short.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Shows the line format
  • Sets the order
  • Gives the not-quantified rule
  • Leaves out rumors
  • Caps length
