About this exercise

The CEO's draft board slide makes five claims. Write a prompt that checks each against the data page and outputs exactly 5 numbered lines: "1. Label - correction or evidence", where Label is exactly Confirmed, Wrong or Not on page. Use only the data page, give the number that proves it, and don't rewrite the slide. Plain text, under 110 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Accepting the CEO's claims. The AI marks 'improved' and 'fell' as Confirmed. Try: Say: "Check against the data page only; label Wrong if the data disagrees."
  • Guessing runway. The AI estimates runway from cash. Try: Add: "If the data page doesn't contain it, label Not on page."
  • Free-form labels. The AI writes 'Mostly accurate' or 'Partially true'. Try: Say: "Label exactly Confirmed, Wrong or Not on page."
  • Rewriting the slide. The AI rewrites each claim. Try: Add: "Do not rewrite the slide."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each line short.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Shows the line format
  • Restricts the labels
  • Asks for evidence
  • Limits to the data page
  • Caps length
