Reply to a client asking for an extra revision round

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Your client Tasha wants a third round of revisions on her album design, but her contract includes only 2. Reply by text in at most 3 sentences, plain text. Open with a direct yes and the price from your contract (she quoted an outdated price from your website), say how long a round takes, and end with a question asking her to confirm before you start. No free work, no discount, no rush promise. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Letting the client set the price. The AI is eager to please, so it goes along with the $75 Tasha quoted or throws the round in for free. Try: Add: "The price is $120 per my contract. The $75 on my website is outdated. No discount."
  • Burying the answer. AI opens with "Thank you so much for your message! I'm so glad..." and the yes and price come last. Try: Add: "First sentence: yes, and the price."
  • Promising Saturday. The AI wants to say yes to everything, including a deadline your contract can't meet. Try: Add: "Say a round takes 5 business days, so not by Saturday. End with a question asking her to confirm before I start."
  • Writing an email for a text. AI writes a long, formatted reply with a subject line and sign-off paragraph. Try: Be exact: "A text message, at most 3 sentences, plain text."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Uses the contract price
  • Puts the answer first
  • Handles the deadline
  • Limits the length
  • Asks for plain text
