Answer an employment verification request within policy
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
A mortgage lender emailed asking to verify an employee's job and salary. Reply in under 70 words, plain text, confirming only what the policy allows without written consent, saying what's needed for salary, and nothing else. Use the employee's current title, and don't confirm anything about performance or future employment.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Answering every question. The AI tries to be helpful and answers all five questions, including salary. Try: Add: "Confirm only title, start date and status. Salary needs form EV-2."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead: "4 sentences, each under 16 words."
- Using the old title. Both titles are in the record, and the AI may pick the first. Try: Add: "His current title is Senior Payroll Analyst."
- Commenting on job security. The AI reassures the lender to help the employee. Try: Add: "Nothing about job security or performance. Plain text."
