Write a short job post with the right pay range
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're posting a job on your company's social page. Write it in under 60 words, plain text, with the role, location and updated pay range in the first sentence, two reasons to apply from the notes, and the apply link. No hype words like 'rockstar' or 'ninja', no emojis, and no hashtags.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Burying the pay. The AI opens with an exciting hook and puts pay at the end or leaves it out. Try: Add: "First sentence: role, Columbus OH, $28-$33/hour."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead: "3 sentences, each under 16 words, then the link."
- Using the old range. Both ranges are in the notes, and the AI may pick the first. Try: Add: "Use the Mar 4 range only. Never show $26-$31."
- Copying the draft's hype. The manager's draft sets the tone, and the AI keeps the energy, emojis and hashtags. Try: Add: "No hype words, emojis or hashtags. Plain text."
- Too many perks. The AI lists every benefit and runs long. Try: Add: "Exactly two reasons to apply, then the link."
