Plan a study week around practice and work

Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Finals start next Monday, and you need a study plan for this week (Monday to Friday) that fits around soccer and your job. You want exactly 5 numbered lines, one per day, each with time blocks and subjects in under 18 words, plain text, nothing before or after. Chemistry is your hardest final, so it gets the most sessions, and no study block can overlap practice or work. Wednesday's practice was canceled, so that afternoon is free.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for "a study schedule". The AI builds a big table with every hour filled, plus a list of study tips you didn't ask for. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines, one per day, nothing else."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each day's line under 15 words."
  • Not saying what's hardest. The AI splits time evenly across subjects, so Chemistry gets the same time as an essay outline. Try: Say it: "Chemistry is my hardest, give it at least 3 days."
  • Ignoring the fixed times. The AI schedules 'after school' blocks that land on practice or work unless you tell it those times are off-limits. Try: Add: "No study during school, practice, work or dinner, and Wednesday practice is canceled."
  • Forgetting it goes on your wall. AI adds bold days and headings, which print as clutter. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold or headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Says one line per day
  • Puts the hardest subject first
  • Protects fixed times
  • Mentions the canceled practice
  • Limits each line
