Describe a portfolio project honestly, with your real role
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're adding a project to your portfolio site. Write exactly 3 sentences, under 70 words, plain text: what the project was and your actual role in the first sentence, what you did in the second, and the result with its number in the third. Use the final numbers, and don't claim you led it, since you co-ran it with a teammate. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Writing too much. The AI writes a full case study with headings. Try: Add: "Exactly 3 sentences."
- Overclaiming the role. The AI writes "I led a campaign" because it sounds stronger. Try: Add: "I co-ran it with a teammate; don't say I led it."
- Taking credit for others' work. The AI includes the design and discount strategy, which Rafael did. Try: Add: "Only what I did: subject line tests and the sequence build."
- Using early numbers. The early report's bigger numbers appear first. Try: Add: "Use the final report: 34% open rate, $36,500."
- Adding formatting. Portfolio editors often paste bold and headings badly. Try: Add: "Plain text only."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names your real role
- Uses final numbers
- Limits the sentences
- Sticks to what you did
- Asks for plain text
