Plan a 45-minute lesson in timed segments
Practice: Setting limits and rules. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You need tomorrow's 7th-grade lesson on ratios as a quick plan you can glance at while teaching. Write exactly 5 numbered segments in the form "0-5 min - Activity: detail", with times running back to back and ending at 45, under 90 words, plain text. Use only materials you actually have tomorrow, since the laptop cart is gone, and don't add homework. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- No fixed shape. The AI writes a full lesson plan template with objectives, standards and differentiation sections. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered segments: 0-5 min - Activity: detail."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 90 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each segment under 16 words."
- Times that don't add up. The AI picks round numbers that run past 45 or leave gaps. Try: Add: "Times run back to back and end at 45."
- Using what you don't have. The AI keeps the DeltaMath laptop activity from your ideas list. Try: Add: "No laptops tomorrow. No homework."
- Inventing activities. The AI adds a video or game you don't have materials for. Try: Add: "Use only the activities and materials in my notes."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the number of segments
- Makes times add up
- Drops the laptops
- Shows the line shape
- Sets a word limit
