Practice buying family train tickets in Italian

  • For Parents and households
  • You practice Giving the right context
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

Your family is going to Italy and you want to practice buying train tickets at the station. Get exactly 6 numbered lines that alternate "You:" and "Clerk:", each Italian line followed by the English in parentheses, under 140 words, plain text. The script must fit your real trip: the right number of adults and kids, the right destination from your corrected notes, and a same-day return.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Getting a phrase list. Ask for 'phrases' and the AI gives a long list with no conversation to practice. Try: Ask for a script: "Exactly 6 numbered lines alternating You: and Clerk:."
  • Missing the changed plan. The AI may use Siena, the first destination in your notes. Try: Add: "We're going to Pisa, not Siena."
  • Not giving your real trip. The AI writes a generic one-ticket script that doesn't match your family. Try: Add: "2 adults, 2 kids, round trip today."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each Italian line under 10 words."
  • Forgetting where it's going. AI adds bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your phone's notes app. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
