Label expense items against a policy using three exact labels
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Check each expense item against the policy excerpt and output a table with the header Item | Label | Policy line. Label is exactly Allowed, Not allowed or Ask Finance (use Ask Finance only when the policy does not cover the item). Policy line quotes the rule in under 10 words, or says "none". Plain text, under 110 words. Last line, exactly: Finance makes the final call.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Excusing the hotel. The AI approves it because there were no other rooms. Try: Say: "Judge only against the policy text."
- Guessing on uncovered items. The AI labels the registration Allowed. Try: Say: "Ask Finance only when the policy does not cover the item."
- Inventing labels. The AI uses Partly allowed or Maybe. Try: Say: "Label exactly Allowed, Not allowed or Ask Finance."
- Missing the last line. The AI adds commentary. Try: Say: "End with the exact line."
- Markdown. The AI bolds labels. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
