Draft your first 90 days as a new PM in six bullets
- For Product managers
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
You start Monday as the product manager for the Payments team. Write your first-90-days plan as at most 6 bullets (each starting with a dash), grouped as Days 1-30, Days 31-60 and Days 61-90 labels on their own lines with two bullets each. Each bullet is under 18 words and uses only the notes. Plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Too many bullets. The AI writes 3 to 5 per phase. Try: Say: "Exactly two bullets under each label, six total."
- Generic advice. The AI writes 'build relationships'. Try: Say: "Use specifics from the notes: the 7% failure rate, the 5 merchants."
- Proposing a reorg. The AI suggests restructuring the team. Try: Say: "Don't change the team structure."
- Markdown. The AI adds bold labels. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each bullet: "each bullet under 18 words."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
